Week 6 BOK Poll

One of the biggest winners of the past weekend were the Ole Miss Rebels, proving they are a real contender in the SEC. Photo: Ayrton Breckenridge, Clarion Ledger

  1. Ohio State, 4-0

In a strange game, the Buckeyes had just 6 offensive possessions but converted for 4 touchdowns in a 28-6 win over Washington that was never really in question. Possible upset spot? Not likely, but their first road test of the season provides an intriguing spot to watch.

  2. Miami, 4-0

Rested ahead of a huge matchup in Tallahassee. One of only a handful of teams that has looked elite on both sides of the ball thus far. The class of the ACC.

  3. Oregon, 5-0

Picking up a massive win on the road in Happy Valley, the Ducks came through in 2OT after giving up the lead late, 30-24. On a collision course with Ohio State for the Big 10 title, seemingly.

  4. Ole Miss, 5-0

The biggest risers this week, the Rebels put their name in the hat as a contender in the 2025 season after a 24-19 win over LSU. A strange midseason clash with Washington State breaks up the rest of their conference slate.

  5. Oklahoma, 4-0

The Sooners got some time for John Mateer’s hand to heal with a bye week - and they’ll get more of it this week with Kent State coming to Norman. Will it be enough time before Red River?

  6. Texas A&M, 4-0

The Ags passed another test by grinding out a win over Auburn, 16-10. If they can get past an upstart Bulldogs team, their schedule sets up pretty favorably before the end of season Showdown in Austin.

  7. Texas, 3-1

Resting, getting healthy, preparing, and developing were the name of the game for the Longhorns this week. First conference game looms in Gainesville against the (emotionally) wounded but talented Gators.

  8. Indiana, 5-0

Don’t look now, but the Hoosiers have a huge chance to make a statement in the Big 10 race when they travel to Eugene in a couple weeks. Survived a typical Iowa game with a 20-15 win on the road last week.

  9. Penn State, 3-1

Oh, James Franklin. Never change. No, really, Penn State is a true constant in this world - after a 30-24 defeat at the hands of Oregon, it’s now 1-18 against top 10 teams in the James Franklin era. But they’ll be sure to beat everyone else on the schedule!

  10. Alabama, 3-1

Kirby Smart really has a Bama problem. The latest example snapped the Bulldogs’ near 6-year home winning streak, and saw Alabama surge back into contention in the SEC. They won’t have long to celebrate, as they welcome the surging Commodores to Tuscaloosa this Saturday. By the way, it’s a place where the Tide have won 35 of their last 36 games. We all remember who that loss came to.

  11. Texas Tech, 4-0

The Red Raiders enjoyed a bye week after their big win in Salt Lake, and got some time for starting QB Behren Morton to recover. Not that backup Will Hammond didn’t play like an experienced vet in that Utah win. Looking like the team to beat in the Big 12.
