SEC Power Rankings - Week 4
POWER RANKINGS
Three weeks into the 2026 season, the SEC race is heating up. Texas remains on top as a showdown with Tennessee looms, Ole Miss picked up a statement win over LSU, and Mississippi State is climbing after a road victory at South Carolina. With conference play kicking into high gear and several marquee matchups on deck, here’s how we rank all 16 SEC teams ahead of Week 4.
REBELS DEFEND OXFORD
Well, how about those Rebels?
Ole Miss delivered one of the biggest wins of Week 3, knocking off LSU in Oxford and adding another impressive victory to a résumé that already includes Louisville. The Rebels are 3–0, and they've made a pretty damn convincing case that they belong near the top of the SEC.
Meanwhile, Texas and Georgia held serve with wins over lesser opponents UTSA and Arkansas. Both sit 3-0 as well and are about to enter the meat of their schedule.
So for now, Texas holds at No. 1, Georgia stays at No. 2, and Ole Miss is knocking on the door. All three face stiff competition this weekend with the Rebels and Longhorns facing serious road tests at Florida and Tennessee.
The race to Atlanta is heating up.
UPSTARTS RISING
Well now, look who's coming out of the basement.
Mississippi State followed its impressive road win over Minnesota with another statement, rallying from a 16-point deficit to beat South Carolina 41–34 in Columbia. That's two consecutive road wins over Power Four opponents, and the Bulldogs are suddenly 3–0 with an SEC victory under their belts. With Kamario Taylor at the helm, the sky really may be the limit for the boys in Starkville.
And how about Kentucky?
A week after getting blown out by Alabama, the Wildcats marched into Kyle Field and stunned Texas A&M 31–21. Kentucky scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter, turning a tight game into a near blowout upset that nobody in College Station saw coming (more on the Aggies below).
Neither the Dogs nor Cats entered the season with particularly high expectations in our rankings. Three weeks in, both are giving us plenty of reasons to reconsider.
AGGIE FACADE FADING
Whoops!
Everything came crashing down for the Aggie faithful in College Station Saturday. A home loss to perceived SEC bottom dwellers Kentucky, in a game that was not really close.
That’s the kind of result that has them questioning everything. Now with a trip to Baton Rouge on deck against an angry Lane Kiffin and LSU, things aren’t looking to be getting much better.
Texas A&M could find itself out of the SEC title and playoff races before September is even over. Oh, Aggies.
You won’t hear us feeling bad for them.
